They were 10 experienced gunmen

Northtown Banner ©Jack BoardmanSeason 14—Adventure 5—Northtown—Episode 7—Scene 1… Just south of Southtown… Our heroes quickly pulled the (now deceased) gunslingers off the road and provided the unfortunate seven unmarked graves—they weren’t carrying driver’s licenses, after all, GENTLE READER.

“Now what?” Joey asked.

“Let’s move to a better location—where we can observe without being observed,” Chris suggested, “We’re too vulnerable here.”

“Good idea, Chris,” Debra replied, “Let’s ride.”

About five miles closer to Southtown—they found the perfect spot.

It provided cover—AND a clear view of the road.

Joey suggested, “Now we need the dog-people to scout for us.”

“They might be seen,” Linda observed.

“Not all of us can be seen, Alpha-Linda,” Kai Braveheart replied, “Mattie, Cleo, and I are, effectively, ghosts. We can make ourselves invisible to the living.”

“My boyfriend—there he ghost again!” Daisy cracked-wise.

“You didn’t expect—umm—‘expector’ that,” Pepper replied.

AR—ROOO!” Daisy exclaimed, “Now THAT’S original—the first time you used it.”

“I KNOW, huh!”

“Good plan, Kai,” Linda brought them back to the matter at hand, “Flutters—you know what to do.”

“Master has given me instructions.”

“As long as it matches mine—we’re good.”

“I’ll scout the trails that parallel the road.”

“We’re not good,” Linda replied, “You are to fly to Northtown and tell Hickok we’re here, and see if he can give us some assistance.”

“I knew that,” Flutters said as he flew off—wondering why Master didn’t tell him that.

Episode 7—Scene 1… 5 miles away—heading in our heroes’ direction… They were 10 experienced gunmen—some of the most accomplished shootists anywhere in the North Country.

They were men of legend—and they’d been offered a sum of money far more than any they’d earned in a combined fifty years of work.

Worse yet—there were twenty more such gunfighters five miles behind them.
