PREVIOUSLY: “I expect we’ll have some problems with Silverthorn.”
“I agree, boss,” Thomas replied, “They’ll be the first we should eliminate.”
“I hear there’s a town a bit north of here, Moosehead City, with a Town Marshal’s office,” Smith said, “That’s where we’ll have the rest of our boys meet up. If we can take-over Moosehead City…”
“The rest of the county will become ours,” Rand finished James’ sentence.
Season 14—Adventure 6—PIONEER DANGER BAY—Episode 2—Scene 1… inside the Moosehead Saloon… They were twenty-four and within minutes—the town marshal was dead.
Few, if any, of the citizens of Moosehead City heard the single shot that killed Town Marshal Timothy Carruthers.
They were twenty-four and within minutes…
They were too busy with their own business. And too—it was early in the morning. Too early even for the shopkeepers to arrive at their respective shops.
They noticed the saloon was still open and decided they’d earned a drink—or six, and invaded the saloon.
It didn’t take long for them to start quarreling—which soon became fighting.
THAT—soon degenerated into gunplay.
The barkeep quickly disappeared into the back room where he remained until the shooting stopped.
In the end, only nine remained alive.
Episode 2—Scene 2… inside the Moosehead Saloon ten minutes later… James MacLeish, Jason Jones, Henry Carlson, brothers Rufe & Ade McLintock, Oliver Johnson, Clive Wilson, Adolphus O’Hare, and Eric Samuels were the only real gunfighters of the twenty-four.
Brothers Rufe and Ade McLintock, and Adolphus O’Hare escaped slavery during the waning days of the Civil War—making their way across Texas into New Mexico. They learned their craft defending themselves against slave patrols.
The rest of men were reluctant gunfighters—some learning their skills during the California gold rush, others as cowhands defending the herds.
All nine were dangerous men separately—and together they may be unbeatable.
… and together they may be unbeatable…
What really mattered—they had become as brothers and each trusted the others without exception.
Episode 2—Scene 3… Silverthorn’s Store in Danger Bay… James (Little Wolf) Silverthorn, his wife, Dawn (Abedabun) and his father Samuel (Gray Wolf), Chief of the Eagle Point Band of Ojibwe were in the store when Boomer and Daisy arrived, “Greetings Ahanu (He Laughs) and Akecheta-Apenimon (Fighter-Worthy of Trust).”
“And to you, Enapay Chatan,” Boomer replied, “It is too long since last we spoke.”
“And to you, Enapay Chatan…”
“And how are my descendants?”
“Prospering—as always,” Boomer replied, “And very happy.”
“We had visitors, and I fear they bring trouble,” Samuel had become serious, “I fear there is a storm coming.”
“That is why we are here.”
“You are but one,” Samuel replied, and turned towards James, “You must assemble our riders, and prepare for battle.”
To be—CONTINUED…
Uh oh, storm’s brewing!
