“Six-hundred—or we walk.”

“And,” McGinty added, “even though our gunslingers are likely to defeat them, we simply can’t afford to be caught.”

“There’s a train due to arrive within the hour—we have board that train and get out-of-town.”

“To where?”

“Forest City,” Anders replied, “We’ve not bothered with that town—and we won’t. At least not until if, and when, we succeed in Moosehead City and Danger Bay.”

Season 14—Adventure 6—PIONEER DANGER BAY—Episode 6—Scene 1… Forest City… As the train pulled away from the simple platform which served as Forest City’s train station, six people remained.

Mr. and Mrs. Amos Bannon, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carlson, brothers Bill & Tom Schumer, Mr. and Mrs Randolph Scott (formerly the “McGinty Gang,” looked the same, but no one in Forest City would have any reason to challenge their identities.

While their names will be unfamiliar to you, GENTLE READER, their appearance will.

“You visit the general store, and browse. Mrs. Bannon and I will visit that rooming house; there appears to be a sign on the door.”

As Mr. and Mrs. Bannon got a little closer they saw the “For Sale” sign on the door—and as they arrived, a well-dressed (no doubt—a REALTOR®?) gentleman greeted them, “Hello folks, my name is Fensterwald—are you interested in this building?”

“Are you a REALTOR®?”

“What is that?” He asked, “I run a land office in Moosehead City. I’m expecting a potential purchaser. As the person is now two hours late…”

“Well, Mr. Fensterwald,” Mr. Bannon smiled, “We are not the people you are waiting for—but we are interested.”

“Make your offer.”

“Five-hundred dollars—cash.”

“I was hoping for seven-fifty…”

Episode 6—Scene 2… The rooming house office… Amos & Lea Bannon called their devoted employees into the Rooming House office—its opulence suggested why the previous owner failed, “We have a critical job for you.”

“We trust that you will handle this assignment,” Lea Bannon added, “With the same skill you demonstrated with all previous assignments.”

“You will take the stagecoach to Moosehead City,” Amos continued, “There you will take-over our operations there—with Mr. Carlson in overall charge of the operation.”

“No, Mr. Bannon,” Carlson replied, “We can handle this.”

The others nodded in agreement.

Too bad—they would die along the way.

After they left, Bannon smiled, “That takes care of one problem—they won’t blow our cover.”

“Neither will I,” Lea replied, in a voice that left no doubt who was REALLY in charge.
