“What’s so special about this Outback?”

Nipigon Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: They started their pursuit of the Crusaders for Christ in earnest with lights (and sometimes sirens) on.

“Joey!” Debra teased, “Can’t you get any more speed out of that thing?”

“You’re in front of me—holding me back—GET OUT OF MY WAY!”

“BAHAHAHAHA!”

The Reverend Rupert Festus Wilbur, Jr. knew of Hiram’s notoriety as habitually slow driver—he thought it only a matter of time before they caught-up to him.

The Crusaders for Christ blew past the Roadhouse Grille and didn’t notice Hiram’s truck parked next to the building.

The truck was partly obscured by several other cars and trucks in the parking lot.

Haste makes waste.

Season 15—Adventure 3—NIPIGON—Episode 4—Scene 1… Inside the Roadhouse Grille… Sara Running-Deer, William and White-Eagle, former protagonists and now friends were there to greet Hiram and Medlar, “It has been only a year, my cousin—and that seems too long.”

“It has, Sara,” Hiram smiled warmly, “How are things on the Res?”

“They are good,” She replied and turned to Farkleberry, “Good too, it is to see you, Friend of the Ojibwe, Farkleberry.”

“May your life be long—and your troubles few, Sara Running-Deer,” Lar replied, “It is good to see you again.”

“Oh—you silver-tongued devil.” Running-Deer laughed, “Let us share a drink and the head for the reservation.”

“How’s the fishing?”

“It is good—if one knows where to fish. We have a new restored boat that you may use if you wish.”

“Will you tell us where to fish?”

“No,” She laughed, “It’s best you learn that on your own.”

Episode 4—Scene 2… Ontario Highway 61… Outback, Ontario… The Reverend Rupert Festus Wilbur, Jr. pulled over to the side of the highway, “Where could they be? We should have caught-up with them by now.”

“Let’s not stop here, Boss,” Mick suggested, “There’s a gravel road ahead about a mile, we should turn onto the road, ‘cause it leads to Outback.”

“What’s so special about this Outback?”

“We have friends there—friends who enjoy messin’ with people, just like Dorcas and I do. We’re going to need help if they manage to reach the res.”

Less than five minutes later, they turned onto the gravel road.

Ten minutes later they were in Outback.

Where they found all the help they would need.
