“We’re too late!”

Nipigon Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “Hey, little brother—playing in the swamp again?”

“Yup,” he replied, “But it seems the mosquitoes were winning, so thanks for getting me out of there. What’s up?”

“Hiram’s life is being threatened by a so-called militia. We sent them away, but I’m sure they’ll return.”

“I’ll radio the boys now,” Willie said, “Pre-dawn attack I expect.”

“As do I.”

“Where are our friends?”

“On the lake fishing. I suspect in their favorite cove on the far side of the lake.”

At that precise moment—Kiwi and what passed as the “Posse” arrived.

“KIWI!”

Episode 7—Scene 2… On Lake Nipigon… Shortly after Kiwi arrived—she called Hiram on their secure phone, “You two are in extreme danger—don’t come back here.”

“Oh—GOOD GRIEF!” he replied, “Okay, we have supplies—we’ll stay hidden in the cove. You stay safe—hear?”

“Honey—mama is pissed! I will do what I must!”

“Yes, Boss!” Hiram knew Kiwi was one tough warrior.

Season 15—Adventure 3—NIPIGON—Episode 8—Scene 1… On Lake Nipigon… “Are you really going to stay out here?”

“Sort of,” Hiram replied, “I think we should start across the lake—and time our arrival for dawn.”

“Very well, Captain. I’ll see what the anchor weighs.”

“Wise guy!”

Medlar did indeed weigh anchor.

Our fishermen passed resort at the mouth of the cove—and onto the lake.

The boat was at her maximum speed of fifteen knots and in a direct course for the reservation.

They hoped they’d be on time.

Episode 8—Scene 2… The Dock near the Tribal Council Hall… “Let’s hope we’re not too late.”

“Agreed, Lar,” Hiram replied, “It took a little longer than I’d anticipated.”

“Headwind.”

“That’s for sure!”

“We’re too late!” Farkleberry exclaimed as he saw the deserted village.

“We gave it our best effort.”

Episode 8—Scene 3… The road leading to the reservation village… The “Warriors” parked and locked six cars spaced to block the road completely from shoulder to shoulder, leaving no way to maneuver past.

To put an exclamation-point on it, they also erected a sign: “We’re looking down from the heights—YOUR MOVE!”

THAT—oughta tick them off, some,” Joey laughed.

“They must either surrender,” Chris added, “Or get themselves hurt.”

“Do you think they’re smart enough to surrender?” Debra asked.

To be—CONTINUED…

No, they are not smart enough to surrender! After all, they have the mighty wrath of righteous indignation on their side 🙂 Or is it just ignorance and a petty power hungry zealot?
