“Why have you left your last church?”

Gates Read Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: The Reverend Rupert Festus Wilbur, Jr. went into a rage.

He ordered his troops to advance and take the hill.

Confident in their skills and weaponry they began their advance up the hill.

Not one of Reverend Rupert Festus Wilbur, Junior’s men made it to the top of the hill.

Every member of our Posse could claim one or more kills, and the Henry Rifles of the “Warriors” were devastating.

Every one of the attackers was down.

Except the Reverend Rupert Festus Wilbur, Jr.

He (and his big Hudson station wagon) were nowhere to be seen.

He has reached the status of recurring bad guy.

Hiram Silverthorn and Medlar Farkleberry were safe—albeit angry at not being allowed to participate in the battle.

Season 15—Adventure 4— Gates Read—Episode 1—Scene 1… Wilburville… The Reverend Rupert Festus Wilbur, Jr. crossed the border using the back roads—no small feat in his big Hudson wagon.

He made his way back to Wilburville—arriving in the dead of night.

He set about reinventing himself.

He parked his Hudson in front of his church, and then went inside.

He found his Armageddon kit.

He placed the contents around the church and in the Hudson.

He walked home.

He packed his belongings, and threw everything in the back of his truck.

He drove out-of-town.

As soon as he was a safe distance away—he pressed the button.

The Reverend Rupert Festus Wilbur, Jr. no longer existed.

Episode 1—Scene 2… At the CoopCrafts & Jay Cooper’s… With AJ having moved to his own place—Boomer decided to do a bit of remodeling, and for that—Cooper’s was the place to go, “Hey you two—I need help.”

“What’s up?” Jay asked.

“As you know, AJ has moved out (at last) and I want to redecorate and maybe do a little remodeling.”

“Maybe we should stop by,” Sarah replied, “And case the joint—I mean get a feeling for what you have in mind.”

“How about over dinner, wine & ale?”

“Deal!” Jay grinned, “Tonight?”

“Perfect.”

Episode 1—Scene 3… Danger Bay Meeting Hall and Church… Gates Read met Reverend Tag Guudlender, “I’m Gates Read, a minister of the Gospel and I’m looking for a new home.”

“Welcome, I’m Tag Guudlender, currently the only minister in Danger Bay. I specialize and am educated in all major faiths—what is your calling?”

“Youth and young people,” Reverend Read replied, “Helping them find their way to Christ.”

“Why have you left your last church?”

“It was in a small town near Lake of the Woods of 35 souls. There was a forest fire—it claimed the lives of 30. The survivors all left the area.”

“How incredibly sad.”

To be—CONTINUED…
