Joey just about jumped out of his skin…

“You’ll have time then to enjoy some peace and quiet over a beer?”

“Yes, yes, we will, thank you,” Boomer grinned.

“Oh—nuts,” Joey lied, “I forgot my phone in the car—If my wife calls…”

“I used to be married,” Beauregard laughed, “I understand completely.”

Joey wasted no time contacting Chris, “We’re in—Beauregard bought our story. We’ll stay for a half-hour, or so, and then make our excuses.”

“Good. The Silverthorns just arrived with reinforcements,” Chris replied, “How many?”

“Most appear to be away—now may not be the best time if you want to get them all.”

“But we can get Beauregard, right?”

“Yes.”

“Okay—prepare yourselves!”

“Hold on—we got big-time trouble!”

“What?”

“I see Juco inside!”

“Boomer is in there!”

Season 16—Adventure 2—A Game of Chess—Episode 5—Scene 1—Inside the Motel Lodge… Boomer was taking advantage of the Lodge’s bar—not for ale—for a fresh mug of coffee—when Juco appeared.

“This is not a good thing,” he thought—and then said out loud, “This is good coffee, Red.”

Carole “Red” Kelly, the token woman of Beauregard’s bunch, smiled, “Thank you Jack. I keep the coffee fresh—Beau goes ballistic if it isn’t fresh enough for his taste.”

Fortunately for Boomer, Juco didn’t seem to notice him. That may have been because he hadn’t fully materialized, or perhaps because Cujo was interfering with his vision.

She was.

Episode 5—Scene 2—Outside the Motel Lodge… “Hello Joey.”

Joey just about jumped out of his skin, but recovered—relieved, “Good timing, Cujo.”

“Juco just won’t give-up. He’s managed to gain some strength, and I’m having difficulty sending him across the galaxy.”

“That’s a problem.”

“I’ll have to leave you folks for a while to regain my strength. I’ve sent Boomer a message to slip out the back door—he’ll be here directly. When he arrives—get your human butts out of here.”

“Yes ma’am!”

Moments later Joey and Boomer left successfully—and without drawing any suspicion.

Episode 5—Scene 3—Inside the Posse’s Cabin… The Silverthorns and William White Eagle and the Lakota arrived—ready for battle.

“Welcome friends,” Chris greeted, “Let’s plan our operation.”

“Let’s Plan our Operation” ©JBoardman“Let’s plan our operation.”

“Thank you,” White Eagle replied, “No planning is necessary—just get your weapons. We’ve already scouted their position, and all are in the motel’s lodge having a party, it appears.”

“Boomer & Joey just left there according to Cujo,” Hiram added, “We have enough people to take the lodge without them. They are taking the long way back—just in case someone was watching. It will be a bit before they return.”

“Very-well,” Chris agreed, “Let’s go!”
