And yet—he persisted

“Pull over here!”

“Why?” Beauregard asked.

“Because you have to lose that car—our enemies know that car.”

“You want us to walk?”

“Of course not, you imbecile,” Juco was losing his patience, “I have another car for you—and new identities.”

“Very well,” Beauregard replied, “Then what?”

“Then we drive to your new home,” he replied, “Where you will lay-low until I give you your orders.”

And just like that—the car was replaced and each had a new appearance and names: Robert Smith, Jim Wilcox, and Mike Hale.

Smith/Beauregard was not all that happy about exchanging a fine Chevrolet for a… a… MOPAR! But what’s a poor, evil, schmuck, like the former Beau Tarrant Beauregard to do?

To give you a clue—about who’s who.

Season 16—Adventure 2—A Game of Chess—Episode 7—Scene 1—Inside Robert Smith’s New Cabin… “You’ll remain here until I give you new orders—you’ll not have the ability to leave, so don’t try.”

Smith knew better than to argue—after all, he owed his success to Juco. He’d been able to confound law enforcement in multiple locations and centuries thanks to him.

“Do you have any idea what may be next?”

“No, Juco replied, “I have to deal with Cujo and get her out of our way.”

“How are you going to do that?”

“I have found an entity even more powerful than she,” he replied, “I now must go find it and convince it to remove her from this dimension.”

Episode 7—Scene 2—Near the Mountaintop of the Spirits… Juco called for the Entity to appear—and nothing happened.

He called again—and again nothing happened—the Entity did not appear.

And yet—he persisted.

FINALLY—the Entity appeared, “I am PENANCE! Yeah, yeah, I hear ya—be quick with your request—I’m getting whupped at cribbage and I gotta get back—and kick her ass!”

“I respectfully request you eliminate an entity who has made my life miserable.”

“And I would do this because?”

“I am PENANCE” ©Jack Boardman“And I would do this because?”

“Because she is a do-gooder and foils my schemes,” Juco replied, “And you are known in our circles as one who despises good.”

“Very-well, who is this do-gooder?”

“With pleasure—she irritates me, as well.”

Juco smiled, “Thank you.”

“Yeah, yeah. Now begone! I must return to my cribbage match!”
