PREVIOUSLY: “What do you think of Robert Smith? Can he be trusted?”
“I don’t trust him in the least. But, my opinion doesn’t matter as much as Juco’s.”
“Juco want’s him gone.”
“Why doesn’t Juco just make him disappear?” Chris asked—knowing that Juco NEVER does his own wet-work.
“He would rather we handle the problem of Mr. Smith—probably as a test of our loyalty.”
“You’re probably right,” Chris agreed, “How can I help?”
“Smith seems to trust you and your folks—but seems leery of my friends,” Jones replied, “Maybe you folks can lure him away from his men long enough for us to grab him.”
“Oh—we can do that.”
Season 16—Adventure 3—Hunting—Episode 8—Scene 1—At Robert Smith’s cabin… “Bob, there are those among our bunch who want you dead,” Chris came right to the point, “We need to get you out-of-town now!”
“Really?” Robert Smith trusted Chris, “Let’s get my guys.”
“NO!” Chris replied, “They are the ones who want to kill you.”
“They are the ones who want to kill you.”
“How do you know this?”
“I overheard their conversation at the Blue Swallow Café,” She replied, “My crew will take care of them. Jonathan Jones has offered to help you.”
“Why?”
“Honestly? He wants to take-over field operations and has Juco’s support. Juco wants you to lay-low out-of-town for a while—before your next assignment.”
“Who will handle my traitor ex-friends?”
“My friends.”
“Okay, I guess,” He replied, “Where?”
“Jon and his guys will escort you to Duluth,” she replied, “Where you will play the role of tourist. You already have an extended stay reservation in your name at the Comfort Suites Hotel.”
“Very well, Chris, Thanks.”
Episode 8—Scene 2—On the Duluth Lakewalk… “Well,” Smith was impressed with the Comfort Suites Hotel and his room, “That’s as good a hideout as I’ve ever had.”
“That’s as good a hideout as I’ve ever had.”
“Wait until you see one of the freighters come through the canal. Let’s walk out—there’s a big boat getting ready to enter.”
“By all means,” he replied, “I could get into this tourist thing.”
There weren’t very many other tourists on the South Pier—they’d been caught on the North Pier as the lift-bridge was raised. Smith and his escorts were alone when they reached the lighthouse.
Smith and his escorts were alone when they reached the lighthouse.
They were also alone when Jones pulled the trigger of his pistol just as the boat’s horn sounded.

His body was slipped into the canal
To be CONTINUED…
Well I guess his trust in Chris was misplaced LOL L)

I know that pigeon. Good drawings of my favorite place although we do inn on the lake. I’ll never hear the boat bridge horns again with the same nostalgia again though.
