“Let me see their information, please.”

He went to his computer to check—and as luck would have it—the ancient computer wouldn’t work, “I’m sorry, deputy—the damn computer-machine is down.”

“Thanks for answering my call,” Sheriff Andy Silverthorn greeted Joey and Boomer as they walked into the office.

“What can we do for you, Andy?” Joey asked.

“I want you to check all the car lots in the county, to see if anyone has purchased more than one car.”

“Okay,” Boomer replied, “Your command is our wish.”

Andy laughed.

He was right.

“What do I gotta do to earn this truck?”

“You must not tell anyone anything about us—even after we leave,” She replied, “The penalty for breaking our trust is death.”

“I ain’t no tattle-tale,” Mort replied, “The owner of this here motel don’t treat me good, so why would I say anything?”

“Your life depends on that.”

“I know, but, you don’t need to worry,” he smiled, “You can depend on me—for sure!”

Amy believed him.

“Yes, you may, Mr. Smith, I’m Sheriff’s deputy Halvorson, and I’m looking for six fugitives—all women, and quite dangerous. Have you such guests here?”

“No ma’am,” he replied, “But, if you have a number at which I can reach you, I’ll give you a call.”

“You should just call the Sheriff’s office—do you have the number?”

“Yes, thank you, I do. Do you have descriptions of these women?”

“Yes. Here’s the Sheriff’s flyer with all the information we have.”

“I’ll be sure to call if they show-up here.”
