Previously: Linda stopped at the motel and went immediately to the office where she found Mortimer Smith working at the desk, “Howdy ma’am, I’m Mort Smith, may I help you?”
“Yes, you may, Mr. Smith, I’m Sheriff’s deputy Halvorson, and I’m looking for six fugitives—all women, and quite dangerous. Have you such guests here?”
“No ma’am,” he replied, “But, if you have a number at which I can reach you, I’ll give you a call.”
“You should just call the Sheriff’s office—do you have the number?”
“Yes, thank you, I do. Do you have descriptions of these women?”
“Yes. Here’s the Sheriff’s flyer with all the information we have.”
“I’ll be sure to call if they show-up here.”
Episode 4—Scene 3—On the Road… At the Blue Swallow 2… Debra checked with the desk clerk at the Blue Swallow Motel 2, “No,” The woman at the desk replied, “They’re not here.”
Season 16—Adventure 7—Killers—Episode 5—Scene 1… at the Blue Swallow Motel 2… “Were they here?”
“No, deputy,” she replied, “At least not when I was on duty. Let me check the computer for you.”
“Thank you.”
“Thank you.”
“Deputy, I’ve checked our records for the past month—there have been no unaccompanied women checked-in to this motel at all.”
“Okay, thanks, ma’am,” Debra replied.
Episode 5—Scene 2… Lakeview Auto Sales… “Has anyone bought multiple cars from you in the past couple of weeks?” Chris asked the hopelessly and impossibly thin woman who met her on the sales floor, “Or attempted to sell some to you?”
“Oh—I wish! Tanya Weston replied, “Business has been pretty slow for the past month. We wouldn’t be interested in adding to our inventory at this time.”
“Oh—I wish!”
“I’m sorry to hear your business has been slow.”
“Not too unusual for this time of year. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you, deputy.”
Episode 5—Scene 3… Acme One Auto Sales… Joey slowed to pull into the dealership—and judged it—rightly to be one of those “Buyer BEWARE” kind of places.
He was right in that assumption.
He was right in that assumption.
The sales person immediately got in Joey’s face, “Are you looking to trade-up, today?”
“I doubt very-much that you have anything here that would qualify,” Joey replied, “Have any women come-in attempting to sell you cars?”
“I wish,” Sleazy McScuzzbucket replied, “Business has been slow.”
“Okay, thanks,” Joey said as he headed for the door—hoping he could get the residual scuzz-stink out of his nose.
He couldn’t.
To Be Continued…
Just not getting the answers we want to hear. I know we push on till we do. Mort is going to be in trouble I just know it. Impeding an investigation for one thing. Not to mention lying to an officer of the law 🙂
