“What happened?”

Deputies Banner ©JBoardmanPreviously: Episode 1—Scene 3… Silverthorn’s Café… Hiram & Kiwi Silverthorn were both behind the counter when Joey & Boomer arrived—they were the only customers until Blanch Davis arrived a couple of minutes later.

“What’s on your mind?” Kiwi asked.

“How did you know…” Joey began his question.

“I descend from Native Seers,” Kiwi laughed, “But seriously, your face was a question mark.”

“Don’t play poker,” Hiram added, “At least not with Kiwi.”

“I want to open a restaurant & tavern.”

Season 16—Adventure 8—Deputies—Episode 1—Scene 1… Inside Silverthorn’s Café… “Joey and Boomer, I know,” Hiram smiled at Blanch, “They seemed to have forgotten their manners.”

“I’m Blanch Davis, an old friend of Joey’s—and a gourmet chef.”

“Ah,” Kiwi smiled, “You’re either worried about being our competition and you are testing the waters, or you’re looking for advice.”

“Both, actually,” Boomer said, “After all, the Silverthorn family are founders of Danger Bay.”

“You may not have noticed the sign when you came-in,” Hiram said, “We’re now closing at 10 AM.”

“Because business drops-off after the breakfast rush,” Kiwi added, “How may we help you?”

“I’m looking at a place on CR61, about a mile outside of town,” Joey said.

“I know the place,” Hiram smiled, “It belonged to Thomas Reed. After he passed, his wife Dorothy put it up for sale.”

“Yup—that’s the place.”

“It’s a good location—CR 61 is the main route to Lakeview City and Moosehead City,” Hiram replied, “You could do a lot worse. Stop next door, Cam Farkleberry is handling the sale of the building.”

“Thanks,” Joey replied, “We’ll do that.”

Episode 1—Scene 2… Crow-Wing County Rest Stop… Chris, Debra and Linda found Crow-Wing Deputies tied up near their cars—embarrassed, but alive, “What happened?”

“Well, Deputy…” Crow-Wing deputy Johnson replied, “They surprised us.”

“The name is Shouse, Chris Shouse—any idea which way they went?”

“Not for sure, but I heard something about Moosehead County—if that helps.”

“It does,” Wyatt Earp, IV, replied, “And it spells trouble for our county.”

Episode 1—Scene 3… Inside the Bad Girls Lakeside Cabin… Kim Swanson, Karen Claus, and Radiant-Dove White Eagle were now “legally” known as Louisa & Anna James and Susan White-Eagle—it would take a deep investigation to determine their name-change had happened at all. Their identity change had been performed in their old hideout in Albert Lea in southern Minnesota—as had converting their ill-gotten financial gains into “old wealth.”

Yes, GENTLE READER, they are that good at being bad.
