Previously: Adams’ two big 12pdr guns opened-fire on Milton Bell and his men—half of them were killed, or mortally wounded.
Unfortunately—half survived, including Bell.
Still—it was a start.
“We did our best, Lieutenant,” Sergeant Stern sighed, “This was just a too narrow an opening.”
“No problem, Sarge—I’ll take our cavalry and we’ll ride them into the dirt. You and your men return to the fort.”
“Good hunting, Seth!”
Episode 2—Scene 3… Back on the North Road… James (Diamond Jim) Wilford & his men, along with Boomer, AJ, & Alphonso continued making their way towards Danger Bay, when Flutters appeared, “Friends are coming!”
“But not soon enough, Birdbrain,” Ghost-Cat Tiger-Lily interrupted, “We have riders approaching—fast!”
“Way to go, bird-of-brain!” Daisy barked.
Season 17—Adventure 5—Present & Past—Episode 3—Scene 1… on the North Road… They were only five.
They were only five.
“Let’s take them out,” Jim said.
“Let them go, Jim,” Boomer replied, “We may not get them all and we don’t want them to have a clue where we are.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes,” Boomer replied, “There are more people involved in this takeover attempt and we need to get all our forces together and organized. Big Mac is our assigned posse leader—and we need to get to him.”
“Well—if you’re sure, let’s ride!”
Episode 3—Scene 2… On the North Road, 5 miles away… Big Mac and the rest of the Posse were riding-hard to help Boomer & Company.
Within a few minutes, Flutters found Mac, “Boomer, AJ, and Alphonso are riding this way.”
“Boomer, AJ, and Alphonso are riding this way.”
“How far away?”
“About five miles,” Flutters replied, “They let Bell and four others escape.”
“He didn’t want them to know where he and the others were. Bell had no clue and was just attempting to escape.”
“Yes, Diamond Jim Wilford and his seven men were with Boomer, AJ, and Alphonso.”
“NOW—that makes sense. It will take him some time to get more men.”
Episode 3—Scene 3… On the North Road… In Cook County… In the small town of Flyspeck in Cook County, well-north of the adjacent Moosehead County, Bell began recruiting.
Bell began recruiting.
Flyspeck was something of a “Robber’s Roost,” long before Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch gang made the term famous in the latter part of the 19th Century.
“How-do fellas, I’m hiring,” Martin Bell greeted those in the saloon, “And I pay top dollar.”
