Previously: “You fellas park in the lot—as you can see, there are only a few mobile homes at this location, and all are vacant,” Keller said as the pulled-up, “I’ll pull over and you can meet me by the car.”
They parked their cars and joined Keller on Pine County Road 47, after looking inside the vacant mobile homes, “They look like hell on the outside—but nice inside.”
“Yeah, Reed,” Keller replied, that was intentional—everything mechanical is modern, and I had the interiors completely remodeled.”
“What are our orders?” Sanders Jones asked.
“Relax and stay out of trouble, for now,” he replied, “Get to know the area, visit some of the cafés and stores in Moose Lake—it’s fishing season—rent a boat and do some fishing.”
“And still get paid?”
“You’re salaried—you’ll get paid every 2 weeks, as long as you work for us.”
“That sounds good to me.”
Season 18—Adventure 1—Searching for Simpson—Episode 6—Scene 1… The Posse™ met outside their HQ… “What’s next?” Chris Earp asked.
“You know what, Chris,” Mac rumbled in reply, “We continue to search—I guess.”
“I say we return to Pine County,” Boomer suggested, “And perhaps Moose Lake in Carlton County.”
“We can do that,” Mac replied, “Why not?”
“Perhaps we can all return,” Chris suggested, “And separately check the same places we checked at random times.”
“You expect they won’t notice us?”
“They might,” Chris replied, “But—it’s unlikely they’ll put two and two together.”
“There is that,” Mac rumbled, “Especially if we don’t make it obvious to the locals that we’re looking for anyone by not asking questions—just observing.”
Episode 6—Scene 2… Outside the Modular Mobile Home Park… Chris & Wyatt drove by the mobile home park—and found no-one outside—but noticed some familiar cars parked in the lot.
“What did you see, Mrs. Earp?”
“There are two familiar cars in the driveway,” Chris replied, “At least, they look familiar.”
“Okay—but those are very common cars.”
“Let’s leave now—so we’re less likely to be seen.”
(They left—and weren’t seen, Gentle Reader™, a good thing.)
Episode 6—Scene 3… Boomer & Mac outside the Lakes & Pines Motel… “Well—Look-here!”
“Look where, Mac?” Boomer laughed, “Those cars might be connected to Simpson.”
“Grab your Remington .44, and we’ll pay them a visit.”
With their firearms ready—but hidden, the two went to the trailer’s and knocked.
A very-senior woman answered the door—and when she saw Mac—a wide smile stretched her mouth, “Well—how DO you do?”
“I’m doing quite well, thank you,” Mac replied, “And we’re terribly sorry to bother you—we’re deputy marshals and we’re looking for a couple of fugitives.”
“And clearly, you’re not one of them,” Boomer added, “We must return to our search.”
The woman, clearly disappointed, smiled and went back into her motel room.
