“I thought you died in Deadwood!”

Sheriff Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “It’s nothing personal,” Hiram Silverthorn said, “It’s just that, except for a few people who know and understand that most of you are from a place you call the real world, people are taking notice of the fact none of you have jobs, other than law enforcement. We need our cops here all the time—not off saving our butts in the past.”

“Some of us are not of the ‘real world,’ this is our real world.”

“That’s true,” Hiram replied, “And you may keep your badges as-long-as you have deputies to cover your absence.”

“Well—I am of the past,” Calamity Jane said, “Why not build and open a ‘wild west show, like the one I worked with William F. Cody?” Continue reading

“I like it!”

Sheriff Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “I LIKE muted rumble!” Joey exclaimed, “Let’s see what you’ve done.”

“Well-then,” Lar grinned, “C’mon inside.”

“I LIKE muted rumble!” Joey exclaimed, “Let’s see what you’ve done.”

“Well-then,” Lar grinned, “C’mon inside.”

“A TRAILER!” Boomer exclaimed, “I totally forgot to mention that I would need one.”

Joey was mildly disappointed when he saw his truck—until he opened the door and saw the richly appointed interior. When he turned around his face simply could not contain his grin.

“WOW!” Continue reading

“Satisfied gentlemen?”

Sheriff Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “So now we must find (choke) REAL JOBS?”

“The Silverthorns and Farkleberrys made that clear—and as the founding families they speak for all the permanent families. I can teach—what CAN you do—besides complain?”

“I can teach, too.”

“Teach what?”

“Photography & maybe open a camera shop.”

“See? That was easy—right?”

“Okay, smarty-britches, where are you going to teach?”

“I’ll be starting at Moosehead County College in two weeks—as a tenured professor.”

“Professor Smarty-Britches,” Joey laughed, “Perfect!” Continue reading

“How did you know?”

Sheriff Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “Just like the old man, here, I’m done with law enforcement,” AJ replied, “And done with airfield administration.”

“As I recall,” Farkleberry got serious, dropping his “hayseed” affectation, “You did a fine job at Lakeview Motors. How about running this operation for me?”

“Can I get my hands dirty? No suit & tie? Occasional time off for adventures?”

“Yup!”

“DEAL!” AJ exclaimed, “I have to look at a loft next door—it’s about time to get our own place.”

“Our?” Continue reading

“What, exactly, do you do?”

Sheriff Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY… The Posse returned and found several of their fellow members in the cabin’s great room, “Well—tell us how you spent these last few minutes in the past.”

“Well, Ralph,” Mac replied, “We had us a time.”

Boomer didn’t seem to be pleased to be back—or so it appeared to Collie, “What’s up?”

“Just thinking, Collie. The county election is coming, and I have to make a decision. Maybe I have.” Continue reading

“Speak of the devil, here he comes!”

COLLISTA Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: After a long ride, the Posse and the Kuckunniwi Riders arrived, and after some consideration, “I think we should split into two groups, and ride in fast from both ends of town. They do seem to be gathered outside the saloon.”

“I like that, Sarah,” Chris replied, “They’d likely be too surprised to react.” “What?” Joey asked, “No gunfight?”

“JOEY!” Linda replied as they split-up into two roughly equal groups with each taking a position blocking the road.

Jimmy Hickok fired a single shot—and from both ends the Posse & Riders galloped into town. Continue reading

“You fellas ought to consider surrendering”

COLLISTA Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: Collista & Company arrived in Moosehead City, “Send a couple of your men to the Depot, Bill. We don’t want anyone leaving—or arriving.”

“For how long, Collista?”

“As long as we’re here,” she replied, “We also send as many men as needed to take-over the marshal’s office, maybe you should supervise.”

“Kill him?” Continue reading

“Kill him?”

COLLISTA Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: “Greetings Cheveyo. I am James Butler Hickok—do you know of our friends already here?”

“Yes—they have become part of the Carstairs gang.”

“WHAT?”

“It was Collista’s idea,” he replied, “She convinced Carstairs the she, Boomer, and Mac were on their side.”

“What can we do to help?”

“We’re on our way to clean Blufftown of all remaining gunfighters—join us?”

“First, we need to visit Danger Bay,” Hickok replied, “Meet us outside of Blufftown.”

“Very well,” Cheveyo replied, “You likely won’t find any answers there.”

“I suspect you are right,” Hickok agreed, “But—still…” Continue reading

“Let’s ride!”

COLLISTA Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: With two of Carstairs’ men watching—helplessly, the Silverthorn riders and a covered wagon—manned by two Farkleberry brothers Medlar Jr., and Braddock, loaded the Silverthorn family quickly and headlined towards Blufftown.

Several of the riders remained behind to prevent the two gunslingers from following until the wagon was out of sight. And after warning the two men, “If you try to follow—it WILL cost you your lives.”

By the time Collista, Carstairs, and company arrived at the store, the Silverthorn family was nearing the Adventure Train stopped on the tracks awaiting their arrival. Continue reading

“What’s on your mind?”

COLLISTA Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: “Carstairs and his bunch are BACK!” she exclaimed, They’re at Collie and Big Mac’s cabin—they are acting as though they will join them.”

“Ah—thank you Akecheta-Apenimon (Fighter-Worthy of Trust),” Samuel replied, “My son, it is once again time to assemble your riders.”

“Do you know their plans?” James asked.

“To kill all of your family!”

“We must draw them away from Danger Bay—and back to Blufftown,” James said, “You must tell them you saw us ride in that direction.”

“I will do that, James—somehow.”

“Do they know you are sentient?”

“That’s the problem—they do not.”

“Then I will send Chaska-Kohana to my riders and have them ride past the cabin,” James decided, “To get the interest of those outside the cabin.” Continue reading
