“How may I help you, children?”

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: “I strongly suspect our efforts in both Moosehead City and Blufftown failed,” McGinty/Bannon concluded, “We can settle-down here for a while, I expect.”

“As-long-as you make me an honest woman and marry me.” Continue reading

“BEGONE DOG!”

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: Amos & Lea Bannon (AKA William McGinty and Abigail Anders) were somewhat anxious about the happenings in both Moosehead City and Blufftown, “I wish we knew how things are going—that’s the problem with hiding-out in the 19th Century.”

“It is troublesome, M’Dear,” Amos replied, “But not as troublesome as radar-equipped aircraft dogging us as in the 21st Century.”

“Perhaps I can help you,” a familiar voice said—out of nowhere.

Slowly, the image of Juco appeared, “I can ensure your victory.” Continue reading

“I can ensure your victory.”

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: Ya THINK?” Boomer quipped.

“We must play to our advantage—we have long guns, they do not.”

“So says James,” Boomer replied, laughing, “Who carries a single shot Kentucky Long-Rifle!”

“I don’t see townspeople,” Mac observed.

Daisy, who had been scouting the town—trotted up, “I need a gun—I have a score to settle in town!”

“What are you talking about—a score?” Boomer asked.

“One of them shot at me!” She snarled.

Boomer un-holstered one of his Remington .44s, “Here—go settle the score.”

“CRAP!” she snorted, “No opposable digits!”

“Where are the townspeople?” Continue reading

“Based upon—what, exactly?”

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: Those nine were survivors—in fact they wanted no part of the gunfight and as the trash-talk started, they edged their way towards escape.

After the gunfight, they approached MacLeish, “We’d like to join you fellas.”

“You’re the fellas who left?” Carlson asked.

“Yup,” Clem Todd replied, “We came here to do a job, not to get into a fight with people over nothing.”

“Welcome aboard, gentlemen,” MacLeish grinned, “We’re gonna need your guns.” Continue reading

They were outnumbered three to one

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPreviously: The bodies buried, the wagon driver was headed back to Forest City, when he saw a bunch of riders approaching. Those riders were—of course, our Rootin’-Tootin’ Posse.

They had ridden straight through Forest City as they had no business there.

The driver tipped his hat as they passed on his way back to Forest City.

The dog-people were distracted as they were escorting their humans by the scent of death. That scent led them to a freshly covered mass gravesite.

“Humans are buried here—very recently,” Cleo, after sniffing the dirt, declared, “We must tell the humans!” Continue reading

“You gonna bury them poor folks?”

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “You will take the stagecoach to Moosehead City,” Amos continued, “There you will take-over our operations there—with Mr. Carlson in overall charge of the operation.”

“No, Mr. Bannon,” Carlson replied, “We can handle this.”

The others nodded in agreement.

Too bad—they would die along the way.

After they left, Bannon smiled, “That takes care of one problem—they won’t blow our cover.”

“Neither will I,” Lea replied, in a voice that left no doubt who was REALLY in charge. Continue reading

“Six-hundred—or we walk.”

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “We are in danger here,” Abigail Anders replied, “There is a force of lawmen and native warriors about to strike here.”

“And,” McGinty added, “even though our gunslingers are likely to defeat them, we simply can’t afford to be caught.”

“There’s a train due to arrive within the hour—we have board that train and get out-of-town.”

“To where?”

“Forest City,” Anders replied, “We’ve not bothered with that town—and we won’t. At least not until if, and when, we succeed in Moosehead City and Danger Bay.” Continue reading

“I am Chaska-Kohana…”

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: Sarah Cooper, Chris Shouse, Wyatt Earp, Lacey Dalton-Shouse, James Butler Hickok, Calamity Jane Canary, Joey Jerkowitz, Linda Bryant Halvorson and Debra Wennen Miller (along with their dog-people—covering both flanks running through the forest), had thus far, an uneventful journey.

They noticed the terrain had become more Moosehead County and less Northtown like.

They were also becoming uneasy, as they weren’t completely certain of what they were expected to accomplish.

After hours of uneventful travel—they heard rustling in the brush behind them. Continue reading

They were becoming uneasy

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “Kuckunniwi (Little Wolf)?” Ani smiled, “It is time to pass the lance of war chief to you—it is your time.”

“But mother—what of the Elders?”

“They decided I was too old to continue as war chief—at my insistence—and voted in favor of you to replace me. Do you accept?”

“I am honored.” Continue reading

“But mother—what of the Elders?”

PIONEER DANGER BAY Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: And to you, Enapay Chatan,” Boomer replied, “It is too long since last we spoke.”

“And how are my descendants?”

“Prospering—as always,” Boomer replied, “And very happy.”

“We had visitors, and I fear they bring trouble,” Samuel had become serious, “I fear there is a storm coming.”

“That is why we are here.”

“You are but one,” Samuel replied, and turned towards James, “You must assemble our riders, and prepare for battle.” Continue reading
