It didn’t work-out all that well

And then walked slowly to the door of the main cabin.

He didn’t bother knocking—he burst through the door. Continue reading

BUTTONS!

Buttons, one of several sentient dog, cats, and other “sentient” creatures have been a staple of this blog since it was first created.

We have lost several over the years: Tiger Lily (cat), Mattie, Kai Braveheart, Beagles: Cleo, Coco, & Daisy-Legs Beagle.

Yesterday 30 August 2019, we lost Chris Shouse’s Buttons.

We all mourn Buttons passing, and we share Chris’ sorrow.

As is our custom on this blog, our lost animals go to The Great Beyond, where all good animals go when they die.

Welcome ButtonsWELCOME BUTTONS!

We share your grief, as we’ve all lost animal family-members. Love you Chris!

“WHY DIDN’T YOU FIND THEM?”

Carstairs Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: “Greetings, folks,” the man—wearing a deputy US Marshal’s badge, said, “I’m Wyatt Barry Stapp Earp and I’ve been sent here to assist you in protecting a mister Simpson.”

“Pleased to meet you, Great-Great-Great-Grandfather.”

“Excuse me, sir” Earp replied, “How can this be?”

“I am Wyatt Barry Stapp Earp the Fourth—among other things—a time-traveler.”

Chris quietly called-out to Cujo, “We need you.”

“Once again—I live to serve,” She replied as she whisked Marshal Earp away to the 21st Century—returning almost before they left, “What a wonderous place—this 21st Century—but I am more comfortable here.”

“Would you mind, Grandfather, if we asked you to assist us in our time?”

“Let me ponder that, Wyatt,” He replied—grinning, “Our job now is to get Mister Simpson to safety—permanently.”

Season 18—Adventure 7—CARSTAIRS—Episode 1—Scene 1… Inside Carstairs’ Cabin… “WHY DIDN’T YOU FIND THEM?” Carstairs thundered.

“Why didn’t you find them” ©Jack Boardman“WHY DIDN’T YOU FIND THEM?”

“Because,” Eleanor Thomas replied, “They’re not in the area—we checked every road, path, and open grassland—what more would you have us do?”

Carstairs paced back and forth and thinking.

And paced back.

And paced forth.

Rinse and repeat.

Episode 1—Scene 2… Inside the Posse Headquarters™… The entire Posse™, along with the first Wyatt Earp were in attendance—when there was a knock on the door… “I’m James Butler Hickok, and this is Calamity Jane Canary—at your service.”

My name is James Butler Hickok ©Jack Boardman“I’m James Butler Hickok, and this is Calamity Jane Canary—at your service.”

“How did you know we were here?” Chris Earp asked.

“A telegram from a Miss Daisy Beagle,” He replied, “She said we might enjoy helping you folks.”

(It should be noted here, GENTLE READER™, the real Hickok didn’t like Calamity Jane at all—and yet—as a practical-joke at the deceased Hickok—she was buried next to him. I saw this in person at 8 years old in 1956).

“Calamity and I would be honored to join you.”

“As would I,” Wyatt Earp added, “We’ll get them there safely—wherever ‘there’ might be.”

“How about Deadwood?” Hickok asked, “That’s one place where people don’t ask questions.”

“I agree,” Hickok grinned, “And too, Nuttal & Mann’s Saloon is there.”

“Just don’t sit with your back to the door,” Earp joked.

An hour later, Simpson, O’Hara, Hickok, and Earp caught the train to Deadwood—and out of this story.

Our story will be Continued…

“Do you think that old man lied?”

Protecting Simpson BannerPREVIOUSLY:We must rest our horses,” Missy said, “We’ll proceed at the walk along this road.”

“Agreed,” Sarah replied, “We’ll give the horses an hour’s rest before we head-out.”

“That’s a good idea,” Eleanor Thomas replied.

Protecting Simpson Banner ©Jack BoardmanPREVIOUSLY: Chris Earp, Boomer, and Morgan Earp were the only Posse-members there—the others were out and about providing security for Simpson and O’Hara.
