A New Road To Travel

Family Ties BannerPreviously: She went alone to see her. She was in the dorm like room small beds lined either side of the long room.

There was no one else in the room when Sandra walked in. She had her back to her and she looked so small and alone. Sandra’s heart broke.

“Mandy?”

Mandy turned to look at her confused at first and then her face lite up and she started running straight into Sandra’s open arms.

Will she want to go to Danger Bay?

Season Eleven—Adventure 1—Family Ties—Episode 8…

Sandra hugged her tight. She felt the sadness the little girl had endured and wanted to take it away.  “I am so sorry about your folks Mandy and that you had to come to this place. If you are willing I have made arrangements for you to come to Danger Bay with me. I know I cannot take the place of your parents but I can love you and take care of you.”

Mandy turned to look at her

“Oh yes Sandra please take me with you.”

Mandy looked at her with joy in her eyes, “Oh yes Sandra please take me with you. I so do not want to be here anymore. I won’t be a bother, I promise. I will help you in whatever way I can.”

“We don’t need to worry about that right now. I am just glad to be able to take you with me. Let’s pack up what you have and get out of here. My friends are waiting for us. You will love Chris and Sarah and I suspect they will love you. In fact you will love everything about Danger Bay and all the people. I am hoping you will feel at home with the town and me very quickly.”

They packed up Mandy’s belongings and headed to the reception area to sign Mandy out.

Chris and Sarah immediately took the little girl under their wings.

They were soon headed back to Danger Bay and a new life for Mandy—and a change of life for Sandra.

Mandy was quiet and finally fell asleep on Sandra’s lap. Sandra wondered what the little girl had been through in the months she had been in the home. While the people seemed kind, those places always lacked for money. Other children can be cruel in the circumstances they find themselves in and take it out on other children.

If they had not been able to find Mandy a foster home there must be a lack of people willing to take children. Sandra had also heard horror stories about some the homes that were willing to take the children.

She was just thankful she had Mandy with her now.

They pulled into Danger Bay quite late, so a little sleep and things will all be sorted out.

To be continued…
