“We’re being chased!”

On the Lam Banner ©JBoardmanPREVIOUSLY: Still—95yo Harriet Smith contacted the police—and they responded quickly.

Fortunately, the fugitives drove south on Main Street only down to Cross Lake Road, and followed it to Pine County 130, where they turned towards MN 61.

A successful escape.

The two scored over ten-thousand bucks—and were feeling quite smug.

Eight hours—and lunch later—they arrived back at the Codger Lodge.

Episode 5—Scene 3—Inside Silverthorn’s Lakeview Tavern… Jonathan Jones hit the jackpot—there were two armored car drivers enjoying the hospitality of the tavern.

Jones ordered a beer and distanced himself a bit from the guards who were chatting with Phyllis Chambers behind the counter.

“Where you headed today, Robby?”

“Well Phyllis,” Robby replied, “Down to Danger Bay, first.”

“Ah, if you take the old highway the drive is much prettier.”

“We always do, Phyl.”

Season 16—Adventure 5—On the Lam—Episode 6—Scene 1—Southbound on Historic US 61… The three were making good time on Historic US 61, “Okay Ralph, you win this hand.”

“Like always, Jonny.”

“I think you cheat.”

“Like always, Jonny,” Ralph laughed, “When will you learn that you can’t beat me at cribbage?”

“Hey, you two back there,” Peter interrupted, “It’s about time to change drivers.”

“Just one more hand,” Jonny replied, “And then I’ll switch places with you.”

“Fair enough,” Peter replied, “Oh CRAP!

“What?” Ralph asked.

“We’re being chased!”

Episode 6—Scene 2—On Historic US 61… “Aw hell,” Peter exclaimed, “They’re ahead of us too!

“Crap,” Ralph said, “We’d best cooperate with these asshats.”

“Alright gentlemen—get out of the truck!”

“We’re taking your truck” ©JBoardman“Alright gentlemen—get out of the truck!”

They did as they were told—and hoped for the best.

“Thank you,” one of their assailants said, “We’re taking your truck—but, we’re leaving you our cars.”

And with that—they drove away.

The guards were left behind ©JBoardmanAnd with that—they drove away.

Unfortunately for the guards; the bad guys disabled all three cars.

They would have a long walk.

At least it was a nice day.

They didn’t notice.

Episode 6—Scene 3—Also on Historic US 61… Sheriff James Silverthorn IV arrived on scene, “We were robbed of everything—including our armored car!”

“I’m glad you’re alive to talk to me,” Silverthorn replied, “Can you give me a description of the robbers—and how much money you were carrying?”

“It happened so fast,” Ralph replied, “I don’t remember much, but, they were white men—two carrying submachineguns.”

“We were carrying a quarter-million in cash,” Peter added.

After issuing a BOLO (Be On [the] Look Out) on the truck, and dispatching forensics to the scene, Silverthorn drove the men into Danger Bay.

That was slick but I think first I would have run the car on coming over and then sped up and slammed n my brakes for the two behind. Then roll down the window and start shooting 🙂 Sounds like a plan to me 🙂
